EMMA LEVIN I GO TOUCH GRASS I ZBM
The installation “Go touch grass” explores the ecological impact of digital technologies through an interactive audiovisual environment. A plant with attached electrodes measures changes in electrical conductivity, translating biological signals into sound that visitors can influence by touch. A soundscape of nature sounds and data sonification plays continuously, occasionally interrupted by the glitch-like tones of the biosonification. The visual part combines real and AI-generated nature imagery, with long crossfades producing a morphing effect. When visitors touch the plant, certain areas are highlighted, revealing only real nature footage. The work highlights the tension between nature and technology while inviting visitors to reconnect with the natural world.
